About this product
Made for the long sit
Sitting in the same position for hours puts steady pressure on the tailbone and lower spine, and a flat wheelchair seat offers little to spread that load. The memory foam in this cushion softens with body heat and shapes to you, and the cutout under the coccyx means your weight rests either side of the tailbone rather than directly on it. The forward slope supports the underside of the thighs, helping you stay settled in the seat over a long day.
Day-to-day practicality matters too. A waterproof membrane sits under the removable cover, which goes in the washing machine. The non-slip base and detachable strap help keep the cushion where you put it, and vent holes let a little air through on warmer days. Suitability & safety
Before use
A cushion helps with comfort, but it is not a substitute for a pressure-relief assessment and is not designed to prevent or treat pressure sores. If the user has a pressure sore, reduced sensation, or spends most of the day seated, ask an occupational therapist or tissue viability nurse which cushion is right for them. Check the 46 x 41 cm size against the seat, make sure the cushion sits securely and does not raise the user so high that armrests, footplates or brakes become hard to use, and check the skin regularly during longer sitting.
